Race Rules

General Rules for All Grades

1. Play Nice. Keep Things Simple, Safe & Fun.


2. All Sections of the Course Are Open to Normal Traffic: This includes side roads, access ways, and driveways. Remain safe and courteous at all times, and obey the road code.


3. Keep Left: Riders must keep as far left as possible throughout the event, riding no more than two abreast whenever possible. Use road shoulders where available to allow for the safe flow of traffic.


4. No Crossing the Centre Line: Absolutely no crossing of the centre line is allowed.


5. Respect Other Road Users: There are other legitimate road users on the course. Be aware that some may be frustrated by your presence.


6. No Reckless Riding: Disobeying the road code or riding recklessly will result in disqualification. Repeat offenders will be asked to find another race series.


7. Stick to the Course: The course consists of two ‘out-and-backs’. Follow the course at all times. All key intersections and turns are marshalled. Be courteous and respectful to all marshals.


8. Accidents: In the event of an accident, stop to check on affected riders, call emergency services (Dial 111), and provide first aid if necessary. Notify the nearest marshal, who will contact Alex Mann, the Race Director.


9. Have Fun, Race Hard, Race Fair, and Be Safe.



10. Prize Giving: Held immediately after the race starts/finish.


Event-Specific Rules for Pelo' Performance races

  1. Managed Stops: There are 3 stops where I maybe required to halt, we will NOT being stopping motor vehicles, so you will be required to stop or give way.

  2. If I Bringing Cash I need to have the exact amount as we will not have a float

  3. Racing in Assigned Grades: I must race in their assigned grade. If I catch or are caught by another grade, allow them to pass and do not join their race.

  4. Traffic Management Rules: I must ride two abreast, keep left, and avoid crossing the centerline, especially in the finish sprint and chicane area.

  5. The Course is run on rural roads with grit, cow poo and the occasional pot hole and I will race with caution [especially on the corners]

  6. Pre-Race Briefing: Mandatory attendance at the race briefing at the start line on Springs Rd at 8.45 am.

  7. Race Registration: Registration time is from 8:15 am to 8:40 am.

  8. Race Start Times: Elite Grade: 9:00 am Other grades start at 2-minute intervals after Elite Grade.

Participant Legal Disclaimers

1. Acknowledgement of Risk: Participation in road cycling events involves inherent risks of physical injury. By entering this event, participants affirm that they understand and accept these risks.


2. Waiver and Release of Liability: Each participant agrees to release and hold harmless the event organiser, sponsors, partners, and affiliates from any claims, damages, or liabilities arising from or related to injuries or damages suffered in connection with the event. This includes any claims of negligence.


3. Personal Responsibility: Participants assert that they are physically fit and sufficiently trained to complete their race safely. They are responsible for their own safety during the event and must adhere to the event rules at all times.


4. Insurance: Participants acknowledge that it is their responsibility to arrange personal insurance cover for injuries or accidents that may occur during the event. The organisers are not responsible for personal injuries or damage to property.


5. Acceptance of Event Conditions: By registering for the event, participants agree to comply with all race regulations, follow the directions given by event officials, and respect NZ traffic laws and local road conditions.


6. Media and Promotion: Participants grant permission for the free use of their name, voice, and picture in any broadcasts, telecasts, advertisements, films, or other promotions that include the event.


7. Changes to Event Details: The organisers reserve the right to alter the event format, route, timing, or any other aspect of the event as necessary due to weather conditions, safety concerns, or legal or administrative requirements.
